Concept
aking the theme of “Gardens of Peace” into mind and the limited amount is space that is 50sqm, this project is situated in a private garden and tries incorporates a sense of adventure into a sanctuary-like, meditative space.
The garden employs a technique typical of traditional Japanese gardens in which steppingstones are used to orchestrate the pace in which one travels through the space. By implementing this strategy, one crosses multiple thresholds with a curated, comfortable pace creating not only a calming atmosphere, but also constructing the garden to appear bigger than it is.
Once arriving at the “Sanctuary” of the garden (on the East side), one is surrounded by green on three sides and a framed view onto water and nature on the fourth. Allowing anyone to settle down and enjoy the scent and sound of the nature that envelope them. This offers a break in the hustle and bustle of urban life and offers a flexible, multi-function space to get away from it all.
