Concept
he theme of this year’s Festival competition is “Gardens of the world”. The whole world is currently in a situation very unusual to us all, when people cannot move freely or walk freely, staying in self-isolation. At such moments we understand how important it is to have your own personal space close to nature: it may be a cottage or a small garden, even a tiny balcony with plants. Our “Self-Isolated” garden illustrates this situation, which we see all over the world. The first border between the inner and outer space – the walls of the pavilion – is thin, almost transparent. This arrangement was not accidental. The glass performs a protective function, but nonetheless does not interfere with the view, so visually the garden and the interior space of the pavilion remain as one. The glass pavilion, where we are located, is placed over the surrounding water space. The water in this garden is the second boundary, that on the one hand protects, and on the other hand purifies the space in which we reside.
