My Agrihood

ach module of My Agrihood is 3 m height, 2 m length, 2 m width.
For this project, according to the limitation of the Festival, I put together only 2 modules in a horizontal way.
Inside this steel structure (which is a scaffold) there are some wooden-recycle boxes in which there is a Hydroponic system on three levels. Here the main cultivation is salad or spinach.

The lower box is a tank in which there is an immersion pump able to pump water and nutrients to the higher level. The different boxes are linked with tubes and the water flows down thanks to gravity. The crops are inside special baskets with expanded clay: they are used to support the plants allowing them to stand upright. Roots pass through the holes in the baskets and catch water and nutrients that flow inside the box. On the other corner we can find a traditional agriculture box with cabbages, carrots and garlic. We can use compost from the kitchen’s neighborhood in order to reset pesticides. In the future we can aggregate more My Agrihood and anchor them in the blind facades of our buildings. With the network of My Agrihood in all the city, we can save water, save ground, have the possibility to eat zero kilometres food, but also try to regenerate abandoned area and give a new neighbourhood identity.
