Concept
The main theme for the Moscow Flower Show competition in 2020 was “gardens of the world”. Nowadays this theme is especially relevant. We decided to honor the victims of the Holocaust because in Russia this year was declared the year of memory and glory.
The Holocaust is a tragedy we will never forget. 74 years have passed since the end of the World War Two, however the Holocaust and its causes and consequences are still the topic of the conversation. It’s a global tragedy that will never be forgotten.
The main distinctive feature of our garden is the wall – the analog of the wailing wall. It’s made of white stone and decorated with Virginia Creeper. The are also thin trickles of water flowing from slabs. They symbolize the tears of the struggling people.
The wall divides the garden in two parts – the dark and the light one. Using this contrast we want to show how our society progressed from making mistakes to redemption. We want to leave this dark side in the past. We want people to look back at it and remember to never commit such horrible crimes, to appreciate the value of their life and the lives of others.
